Our affiliate, Leading Women in Technology, is celebrating the holidays with Celebration of Women at its Annual 2012 Holiday Party on December 6, 2012 to celebrate the graduates of the 2012 Wilpower and Hipower Career Development Programs and thank its sponsors for their gracious support!  This year, LWT is celebrating the achievements of the 2012 LWT Wilpower Career Development Program graduates and their commitment to taking charge of their careers and contributing to the LWT mission of unleashing their own professional potential as well supporting their new friends, mentors and peers.

To help celebrate, they’ve invited a Sommelier, a Concert Pianist and a Chocolatier a to share their talents and accomplishments in their own respective fields.

We recently admitted our first 75 members to the CLUB. We were impressed by the caliber of our applicants and are thrilled to have such a talented and motivating group of women comprising our membership base. Here's a summary of our membership to date:

Thank you to the 100+ women who attended our Launch Party on Thursday, October 4th, and especially to our panelists for sharing insights on their development as women leaders.

Here are eight key takeaways from the discussion:

1. Doing good work will get you a seat at the table. You have to network and be visible internally so that others are aware of the good work you're doing.

1. Identify sponsors, and ask for (and be open to) their advice.

1. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable; seek out stretch assignments.

1. Its OK to break the rules sometimes.

1. Its OK to fail – everybody does, and you will learn from it.

1. Men don't question whether they can handle a promotion; why should women?

1. Aim HIGH, think bigger.

1. It gets easier to maintain a work-life balance perspective as you move up in your organization. It gives you more freedom to set your own schedule.
